Thinking of those urban legends, yeah? It all starts with urban legends, slowly becoming uncannily true. For you, uncanny are the times when you thought of the night without… noticing.

Picture this late Summer evening at Queens. You take a sip of a warm, refreshing espresso at your favourite Gosh!Coffee and take a stroll to the club around the corner to meet a friend. You walk past this strange guy trying to talk to a STOP sign, but you do not care. He’s possibly drunk, or high. Maybe both.

These times are long gone now. Since you’ve learned what’s behind the veil, you cannot see the night the same way. And you don’t spend evenings with your friends anymore.

Now, your only friends are the people in your Cell; you cannot gamble that whoever (or whatever) you track might track back to the people you care about, seeking for revenge or simply… blood. You’re a Hunter now. There’s always another Quarry to be tracked and taken down. And the first universal rule in this line of work says: don’t take unnecessary risks. It’s risky enough without them.

Take the day when you had to sneak to this abandoned mansion. It not only looked like a typical horror-esque creephall, but it also literally was one. And yet, in the back of your head you knew that the lights turned on in the basement couldn’t mean anything good.

Because just like your Quarry, you sometimes prefer to hunt in the dark, in silence.

It turned out that a gang of scarfaced people was conveniently searching for the same thing as you, though likely with an opposite goal. Were they working for your Quarry? Were they Ghouls, or people wishing to capture the attention of those who live in the shadows? Or maybe just a bunch of bored hooligans?

That, you never learned. You managed to pick up the thing you needed and sneak out without anyone spotting you. That’s 1 point for you, 0 for the night. But the match still goes on.

Next stop is the meat company. Why go there at night, you ask? Well, you can always go straight to the manager and enquire politely had they found some unusual pieces of meat somewhere between their sides. If he’d chase you away as you were a crazy blogger or a drug addict, that wouldn’t actually be half bad. But, if you’d spot this small bit of hesitation in his eyes, the fragile mimic you oh-so-well learned to spot without a second guessing… that’s another story.

Because the number two rule of being a Hunter is to trust no one. Your Quarry can be everywhere, and everyone can be your Quarry. Or working for your Quarry. Like… the meat company manager with the looks of a typical everyman. And then, the night could quickly come back to you to make it even.

So you take the risk and sneak in, putting your hard-earned larceny skills to a test. But the night is always there, ready to strike you with another surprise. This time the „surprise” wears the well-known uniforms. Guess you were too late; the government boys got here sooner and again, you need to sneak your way out through piles of mud, dirt and God knows what else in a nearby sewer. Well, nobody told you that the life of a Hunter is full of glory, did they? And if so – they lied.

Importantly though, other Cell member managed to dig in some numbers leading to local cemetary quarters and your guts are telling you that this is the next stop on the hunt for your Quarry. So here you are: with a trusty handgun behind your belt, a handset in your ear to reach your colleagues in case things would go too south, looking at the cemetary map.

You look at concrete alleys, gently illuminated by these oldschool, yellow-lit streetlamps. You remember that there were times where you were afraid of graves covered in the mist of the dark. But these times are long gone now, and you have some gravedigging to do. After all, you sometimes prefer to hunt in the dark, in silence.

Will the night level the score… or maybe you can outsmart it once more?
